Diamond University – Color Grading
What is Diamond Color?
Diamonds exist in an incredible variety of colors, ranging from colorless to incredible fancy hues like pink and blue. While fancy color diamonds are worth a great deal of money, we commonly deal with diamonds that range from colorless to light yellow.
What color is the most valuable?
Regarding white diamonds, the most valuable within this range are colorless, because colorless diamonds allow light to pass through, reflect, and disperse. However, a diamond does not have to be perfectly colorless to be valuable. Each diamond is given a letter from D-Z that describes its color. The closer a diamond is to colorless, the more valuable it will be.
